There are two engines available for the 2021 Nissan Altima. The first is a 2.5-liter Direct Injection Gasoline DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine. On front-wheel-drive models this engine produces up to 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. For all-wheel-drive models, the engine delivers up to 182 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. The second engine is a 2.0-liter Variable Compression Turbo (VC-Turbo™) DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine. This engine achieves up to 248 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque when using 93-octane fuel or 236 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque when using 87-octane fuel. Additionally, the 2.5-liter engine has a fuel economy of 28 mpg in the city, 39 mpg on the highway, and 32 mpg combined. On the other hand, the 2.0-liter VC-Turbo gives 25 mpg in the city, 34 mpg on the highway, and 29 mpg combined.
Both engines are paired an Xtronic CVT® (Continuously Variable Transmission) which has available paddle shifters with manual shift modes on some models.
