2018 Rogue vs. 2018 Rogue Sport

2018 Nissan Rogue Performance vs. Rogue Sport

Performance is one of the main areas of difference between the Rogue and the Rogue Sport. For example, the horsepower of the two models is slightly different:

  • 2018 Nissan Rogue: 170 horsepower engine

  • 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport: 141 horsepower engine

As you can see here, the Rogue has the slight advantage in terms of horsepower, meaning more kick and speed if that is what you are looking for in your SUV. In addition to horsepower, the Rogue has the slight edge in fuel efficiency as well:

  • 2018 Nissan Rogue: 26mpg city / 33mpg highway

  • 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport: 25mpg city / 32 mpg highway

When it comes to performance and fuel efficiency, the Rogue has the edge over its smaller sibling.

2018 Nissan Rogue Exterior, Size, and Cargo Space vs. Rogue Sport

The exterior shape and size of the Rogue and Rogue Sport is another point of difference between the two models. The Rogue is slightly larger than the Rogue Sport, and there is a slight difference in body style as well.

  • 2018 Rogue Size and Weight

    • Dimensions: 185″ L x 72″ W x 68-69″ H

    • Curb weight: 3,454 to 3,660 lbs

  • 2018 Rogue Sport Size and Weight

    • Dimensions: 172″ L x 72″ W x 63″ H

    • Curb weight: 3,232 to 3,424 lbs

As you can tell here, the Rogue Sport is a smaller version of its larger sibling, the Rogue. About a foot shorter in length and almost that much in height, the Rogue Sport could be considered the younger, slightly smaller sibling to the 2018 Rogue. Due to its smaller size, there is also a difference in cargo volume between the models:

  • 2018 Rogue Size and Weight

    • Cargo volume: 39.3 ft³, 70 ft³ with seat area

  • 2018 Rogue Sport Size and Weight

    • Cargo volume: 22.9 ft³, 61.1 ft³ with seat area

If you are taller, or need to carry more cargo, that could be a reason to go with the 2018 Rogue over the slightly smaller Rogue Sport. However, we have not yet arrived at one of the most important areas of differentiation between the two versions of the Rogue.

2018 Nissan Rogue Price vs. Rogue Sport

For many, price is the most important factor in determining whether to go with the 2018 Rogue or 2018 Rogue Sport. In that case, due to its reduced size, the Rogue Sport has the advantage. The starting MSRP for both models per Nissanusa.com is as follows:

  • 2018 Nissan Rogue Starting MSRP: $24,800

  • 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport Starting MSRP: $22,110

As you can see, the 2018 Rogue Sport has the advantage in terms of starting price over the 2018 Rogue.
